Who can take part?
The walks are open to all. They vary in length and type of terrain to provide opportunities for all levels of ability. The 20 mile challenge walk is for experienced walkers whereas the 5 mile walk is more suitable for people who do not regularly walk and for families with younger children. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. You must be 18 years or older to take part in the Challenge Walks
Are the walks guided?
All walks apart from the 2 challenge walks (20 mile and 12 mile on Saturday 16 July) are led by experienced walk leaders. On the challenge walks detailed directions of the route are provided and tallies issued to each entrant to be checked at each checkpoint
What happens if I am unable to complete the Challenge Walk?
If at any point you wish to retire, inform the marshall at the next checkpoint. The organisers have the right to request the retirement of any entrants who in their opinion is unlikely to reach the next checkpoint in the required time. The maximum time allowed to complete the walk is 10 hours
Are the walks wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, the majority of the routes follow uneven paths with stiles and are therefore not suitable for wheelchair users.
Where does the money go?
The objective is to send as much money as possible to charity. Once the costs of organising the festival are met, the balance of the registration fees is split between the selected WWF charities. Participants are encouraged to raise additional funds through sponsorship or by donations
How and when do I register?
For all walks it is advisable to register in advance by completing the online entry form as spaces may be limited. Please post entry forms together with your cheque made payable to the Wallaby Walking Festival
What do I wear?
Please come suitably attired. Most walks require boots or good walking shoes and bring waterproofs
Are refreshments provided?
On the 2 Challenge Walks there are regular checkpoints where light refreshments and drinks are available and a free hot meal is provided at the end. On the other walks (apart from the 5 mile walk) please bring your own drink and packed lunch
Are dogs allowed?
You may bring dogs so long as they are kept under strict control and on a lead
What time do the walks start?
Check the walks page for times of start. Please be there in good time. Ample free parking is available at the start points of each walk
